YS Jaganmohan Reddy pays heed to public opinion and that is a positive. After the criticism by the public and the opposition Telugu Desam over the splurge of taxpayer’s money at his homes in Tadepalli and Hyderabad, the chief minister has ordered that work orders amounting to Rs 2 crore be cancelled. Government orders were issued on 6 December, cancelling the earlier orders that were issued in November.

These works included security arrangements at his Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad and the annual maintenance contract (Rs 1.2 crore) at the Tadepalli residence and providing furniture and other amenities. However, close to Rs 14 crore would still be spent on the Chief Minister’s residence-cum-camp office.
